Nicole Pietkiewicz
My approach to therapy is person-centered and strengths-based. I believe that in order to be effective, therapy must make the client feel seen, heard, and valued. I prioritize building a strong foundation of trust with my clients, so you feel supported and grounded, able to fully explore your internal world free from judgment. I also believe that healthy relationships are key to living a meaningful life, and that must start with one’s relationship to oneself.
As your therapist, I will help you uncover your own wisdom and insights into how you can achieve your goals and improve your connection to self and others. When we deepen our awareness and understanding of our emotions, and accept the messages that they are trying to send to us, we are empowered to make choices that align with our values and bring meaning to our lives.
Background & Licensure
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco. I have provided therapy in community and school settings, and have worked with a range of populations, including young adults with severe mental illnesses, adolescents with significant emotional disturbance in addition to learning differences, and their families. Many of my clients have struggled with depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, and Bipolar Disorder.
I have been trained in trauma-informed care, attachment theory, systems theory, and expressive arts interventions. In addition to counseling, I have experience in case management and client advocacy, and am always ready to meet my clients wherever they are in their mental health journeys.
