Kim Sevcik
My approach to therapy is holistic: I aim to get to know you as a whole person, to support you to tap your strengths and to build new skills that will help you navigate your struggles and break patterns that aren’t serving you. My style is warm, open, compassionate, and non-judgmental. Depending on your needs, I draw on a variety of modalities, including DBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), attachment theory, and somatic work.
I have worked with teens, adults, families and couples in a variety of settings, including as a fellow in Kaiser’s Child and Family Psychiatry department; as a therapist in an intensive outpatient program; as a grief counselor for families; and as a therapist for adult individuals and couples at a sliding-scale private practice.
I believe that somewhere deep inside we all have an innate sense of well-being, but life’s many challenges can prevent us from accessing it. I see my therapist role as a facilitator in the process of helping you connect with your authentic self and embracing it – because that connection will help you make peace with yourself and others, make healthy choices, strengthen your relationships, and live a more fulfilling life.
